As a former Associate Director of Admissions at Stanford Law School, I have read thousands of applications front to back, and have a deep understanding of what top law schools are looking for. It is more than just trying to 'stand out' from the crowd. You will need to craft a highly compelling story so that you convince the admissions committee that you have amazing potential as a law student, AND you will make a valuable contribution. I have many years of experience helping prospective law students gain admission to their dream schools - even those with less than optimal GPAs and LSAT scores. I am a strong believer that an applicant is more than the numbers - but the essay is the make-it or break-it factor. I will be your thought partner and supportive advisor from start to finish. I have expertise developing individualized time lines, school lists, letters of recommendation, resumes, essays (required and optional), character and fitness paragraphs, managing waitlists and even negotiating financial aid awards. I'm a Yale University graduate and incoming student of the Stanford Law School class of 2028. I served as a Marine Corps officer in the four years after graduating Yale where I learned how to lead teams and developed discipline and mental toughness . I have extensive experience working with students to get into college and graduate programs through the nonprofit Rawan Mentorship. I will leverage my experiences in undergraduate and graduate admissions to support you throughout the application process from devising an application strategy to putting the finishing touches on your essays.

As a first generation professional, I understand how stressful navigating the law school admissions process can be for applicants. After a post-graduation public interest fellowship and some time in big law, I spent more than a decade working at two T14 law schools—the University of Chicago and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. My time working in legal education in both recruiting and student affairs means I am well-versed in how best to navigate the admissions process and select and succeed in the law school that is right for you. I am particularly passionate about working with those first generation professionals who are navigating the admissions process and with those from backgrounds historically excluded from the legal profession.

Daniel Khalessi served as President of the Stanford Law Review and is a startup and venture capital lawyer at Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco. He is passionate about helping others turn their personal experiences into powerful stories and achieve their dreams. Having lost his Dad at a young age, Daniel understands what it is like to overcome challenges. A product of Bay Area public schools, Daniel earned a B.A. from Stanford, M.A. in Global Affairs from Yale, M.A. in Economics (China Studies) from Peking University, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in constitutional law and earned prizes for outstanding performance. He previously worked as a startup lawyer at Latham & Watkins LLP and as a China analyst at Harvard's Belfer Center.

I know what it feels like to dream big--I didn't know anyone who had attended an Ivy League school when I started thinking about law school. I'm now three years into practice as an attorney (law clerk --> public defender) and would love to share my passion for law school and lawyering with you.

Having navigated the law school admissions process early through Harvard Law School’s Junior Deferral Program, I understand firsthand what I wish I had known from the start. My approach goes beyond medians and numbers-driven strategies, focusing instead on helping applicants stand out through the power of their unique story. I have advised hundreds and hundreds of law school applicants over an almost twenty year period. I am an expert in law school admissions and have also published a book and a nationwide column about it. Many applicants that I have advised have been admitted to their top choice of law schools. Some of my former students have also received up to full scholarships to law school. I am also an expert on the subject of legal careers, as well as alternative legal careers. In addition I have taught several courses for students planning to apply to law school. I am a graduate of Brown University and Boston College Law School.
